New International Fashion Chair at Marangoni Institute

Istituto Marangoni has named fashion designer Maurizio Pecoraro as new International Fashion Chair.

Maurizio Pecoraro, former Marangoni Institute student, has worked in the past for many prestigious brands in the fashion industry, first at Versace and then at Valentino as creative director. Moreover he currently founded his own label that has just catwalked in MFW with the new FW17 collection.

The appointment of Pecoraro follows the willing of the Fashion Institute to be an effective starting point for future professionals in the fashion industry and to provide a highly professional mentoring. Pecoraro will handle the 360-degree assessment of Marangoni school students’ collections, evaluating creativity and originality of the creations, their realization with an eye both on tailoring and raw materials choice.

The first accomplishment of Pecoraro in 2017 is the supervision of end of the year fashion show by Marangoni Shanghai students. His task will be to assess and validate the collections that will be presented at Shanghai Fashion Week in April.

During the Asian Fashion week 15 Istituto Marangoni Shanghai students will have the chance of presenting their reations, parading their collections under the eye of industry professionals and potential buyers of leading fashion companies. The show will end with the revival of Pecoraro FW17 collection, the one already presented last February at Milan Fashion Week. A collection welcomed with pleasure by Milan public due to its versatility combined with unusual midi-long clothing length.

The leading cloth, the blazer, in beige and ice neutral colors or with floral and pied de poule patterns, became feminine thanks to expert tailoring and accessories such as fur hats and maxi scarves. On the other side, the masculine scent of coats is smoothed through fluid cuts and countersunk, and the overall fit is highlighted by Persian-inspired prints and contrasting colors such as mustard, orange and purple. A collection that surely will set inspiration and that will challenge the Marangoni fashion designers to be.
