Gucci bonds with France: the next fashion show of the Italian fashion house will be held again in Paris in a suggestive location.
The first rumors about the fashion shows scheduled for Spring-Summer 2019 fashion weeks have appeared. The Gucci SS19 collection will be parading in Paris at the Théâtre Le Palace, a place capable of combining elegance and underground vibes.
Gucci is ready to reconfirm his preference for the Parisian city. The last two collections already highlight the link between the fashion house and France. First the presentation of Cruise 2018 collection in Arles, in the evocative setting of Alyscamps necropolis. Following the launch of the Pre-Fall 2018 inspired by the Parisian student revolution of 1968.
For those wishing to understand more about this new mood of Gucci, just take a look at the photos of the photographer Glen Luchford and the contents on Gucci social networks linked by the hashtag #GucciDansLesRues.
Gucci in recent years, thanks to the new creative direction, has transformed its fashion shows in real media events. On one hand Gucci is taking full advantage of the new fashion course that winks at communication and social media. On the other hand the fashion house does not forget luxury and elegance, linking itself to French couture and history.
The choice of the Théâtre Le Palace as a location for SS19 fashion show is not a coincidence. The theater has indeed lived a rich history. First of all it islocated in the eclectic district of Montmatre, in rue du Faubourg. Le Palace was born as a theater but soon gave a scandal for the sensual performances there represented. Later on it became a cinema and it has been closed due to the death of the owners. Finally the theatre comes back in life in the Seventies – years that mark its maximum splendor.
The theater becomes a privileged place but always marked by a free spirit. It was firstly a place for pop music and then house music shows. The link with gay culture is also strong, showing the light atmosphere and wideness of the place.
Keeping to fashion, personalities such as Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler attended the theatre over the years.
The fashion house Gucci has chosen the Théâtre Le Palace in Paris for its next fashion show this very unusual link between classic and transgression. It is not difficult to imagine that it will be, as for the last fashion shows, one of the most discussed events of the fashion week SS19.
